Peace talks are a farce, Sandy Warr Interview with Maryam Namazie, LBC News, 26 April 2026
“Peace” negotiations between the Islamic regime of Iran and US are a farce, a cover for a controlled war that benefits both. The war has helped rescue a regime that had been losing legitimacy since the 2022 Woman, Life, Freedom uprising and the protests earlier this year. It uses war to regain the upper hand and justify further arrests, executions and militarisation of society.
Trump’s politics operates through permanent crisis. His statements move markets, bringing huge profits and are tied to a wider geopolitical strategy. The Israeli government, too, is using this moment to shift the balance of power across the region. And the people of Iran and the wider region pay the price.
Real peace won’t come from bombs or behind-the-scenes deals. It will come from the struggle between the people and the regime.
