Let’s go out driving (or cycling) in support of Saudi Women2Drive campaign on 17 June!

Manal al Sharif, a Saudi woman who was arrested and imprisoned for protesting against the driving ban for women in Saudi Arabia, has been forced to abandon her campaign to get out of prison. Cycling can get you in to just as much trouble, and according to Ayatollah Alamolhoda, the Friday Prayer leader of Mashhad, Iran, it can cause corruption and prostitution!

Despite the pressures on Manal, many are gearing up to drive on 17 June in protest to the ban. If you are driving or cycling on June 17th, please take a picture and upload it on the internet to show your support for women fighting for equality.

You can upload your photos here.

You can also sign a petition supporting the right of women to drive in Saudi Arabia here.

Let’s stand (or drive or cycle) with Manal and others and show our support!
